A highly skilled workforce is essential for growth. The ambitious targets laid out in the Leitch Review of Skills are a clear indication of the task confronting many localities, attempting to compete in the global knowledge economy. It is no surprise that this is a growing area of work for SERIO.
Experience With a track record in economic intelligence and analysis, SERIO has carried out a significant body of learning and skills work. We have worked with Local Authorities, Employment and Skills partnerships and delivery organisations to inform policy, develop skills interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of skills focused projects and programmes. We also have a good understanding of the importance of a skilled workforce for innovation and growth.
Examples of our recent work includes a sector skills audit and skills provision mapping that identified the skills needs and gaps of businesses, and compared this with existing skills provision. Members of our team have also been closely involved with the development of ESF Programmes, and their implementation, and we have evaluated a wide range of ESF and SFA funded skills interventions.
