Devonport Impact Assessment

SERIO, in partnership with Plymouth University Business School and ekosgen, has been commissioned to assess the socio-economic impact of the recent Strategic Defence and Security Review on Plymouth and the surrounding area.

The work, on behalf the Devonport Task Group, will use a business survey to establish an accurate baseline of the current contribution the dockyard makes to the local economy. This will be used to model various scenarios which will be combined with a wider study looking at the implications for particular communities, covering skills and training, housing, provision of services and welfare costs.

The project will provide a robust, transparent and objective review of the potential impacts, as well as evidence that might be important in making the case for the future of the Devonport dockyard.

Social Enterprise in a global context: the role of Higher Education InstitutesThe British Council has commissioned SERIO, and colleagues in Futures Entrepreneurial Centre, at Plymouth University to undertake a global study to inform Social Enterprise policy.
